Brooklyn Girl News

Brooklyn Girl is the traditional American-cuisine style restaurant with that modern flare you crave for Saturday’s dinner date.

In an age of homogenized restaurants that are tailored for the digital, Brooklyn Girl breathes the air of wholesome dining – built to enjoy the here and now – while still infusing accents of modernity into the dining experience. In other words, if you’re young, trendy and live on Instagram, Brooklyn Girl has your fix with chandeliers hanging in bird cages, paintings of Woody Allen and items on the menu like Mushroom Toast. If you’re looking for a perfectly dim-lit ambiance and an intimate yet social setting to eat.. Read More Review by Scout

Thank you Brooklyn Girl Eatery!

This past Sunday was a special day for families at Brooklyn Girl Eatery. For that one day, the restaurant recreated their 4th of July BBQ contest winner, Team Smokin’ Oak’s pulled pork sandwich. It was on their menu for everyone to try. The award winning delicious pork was served in sandwiches for lunch, and sliders for the dinnertime menu. Proceeds went to the Mission Hills Town Council... An ode to Brooklyn Girl brunch: Popular dinner spot owns my Sunday morning

Brunch. Breakfast + lunch. This simple portmanteau fills me with a mixture of joy and dread. In many ways it's the perfect meal: transitioning seamlessly between savory and sweet dishes; adeptly served by either coffee or alcohol, and preferably both. It's a first meal of the day, but one taken slowly, patiently. You don't even have to set an alarm for. In fact, all the better if you sleep late. So what's the problem?.. Drink Me Pretty Brooklyn Girl

It really is true what they say, often times, happiness comes down to the simple things. Especially with eating. Yes, one can hardly deny that a bottle of Amarone, flavors of truffle or a filet of Chilean Seabass isn't delectable and divine, but sometimes all it takes is just a simple thing to make you love the eating experience. Like popcorn. :D A good friend took me to Brooklyn Girl, in Mission Hills, a little while back and everything, as expected, was... Read More at!

Let's go Oyster-Bar Hopping! !

The husband-and-wife owners of this airy neighborhood amusement are still doing crab salads, veggie gnocchi and pork chops. Their slippy-crunchy, fried oyster sliders ($12) should be required eating. And Michael and Victoria McGeath remade their pantry section and last week introduced an evening-only raw oyster bar (22 mint-green metal seats; low-slung marble counter). Recently there were oysters roused from their Morro Bay bed.. Read More at!

Birds, bees & oysters are out at Brooklyn Girl !

Last month, I was asked by U-T San Diego for my idea of a perfect spring meal. I noted lamb as the quintessential springtime protein and made mention of peas, morel mushrooms and fiddlehead ferns, including a note that the latter can be very hard to find. Little did I know then that, just weeks later I'd be digging into a dinner including a plate of pickled spring veg featuring this lovely but rare gem as well as an earthy pea soup, a halibut dish adorned with deliciously meaty morels, and Colorado lamb sirloin with pea and fava bean risotto...Read More at!

Brooklyn Girl Eatery - interior picture

San Diegans certainly do love their brunch, and understandably so—at what other time of the week is it acceptable (or even possible) to order a bottomless alcoholic beverage while wearing clothes you may or may not have slept in? Whether you go for an egg Benedict or French toast, the breakfast-lunch hybrid is the most gloriously lazy of all the week's meals.Read More at Eater. SD's ultimate Brunch Map

Summer Fling with a Brooklyn Girl - San Diego

October 25I'd tried to keep my frequent, summer trysts with Brooklyn Girl (BG) hush-hush because the truth was I wanted her all to myself. Brooklyn Girl.. a casual, welcoming neighborhood eatery designed for community interaction! (Union Tribune)

May 9Last fall, Michael and Victoria McGeath, owners of the former Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla, announced plans for their new restaurant, Brooklyn Girl. The urban eatery was slated to open mid-winter, but it wasn't until recently that we met the newest culinary lady of Mission Hills. Far from the fine dining vibe of their longstanding classic Italian restaurant, Brooklyn Girl is a casual, welcoming neighborhood eatery designed for community interaction, and built on the all-important principle of approachable cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients.Read More at UT San Diego

Brooklyn Girl (Thrillist)

May 1No, Brooklyn Girl is not a new American Girl doll that comes with a fixie unicycle, a bottle of kombucha, and a DIY arm-tat kit. Instead it's an eclectically decor'd neighborhood eatery from a husband-and-BK-born-wife team (formerly behind recently-closed Trattoria Acqua) where patrons'll be served as-local-as-possible New American fare on Amish-built tables made in Penn, which is one of the only things those dudes can use anyway.Read More at Thrillist
